My wife and I love this place..
Every time we go, we always end up with more than one bag!!
If you're ever in the Lancaster area, be sure to stop by Michael's.
Staff is great and very helpful 👍 …
Great place to go for all your craft supplies. And they have something for everyone no matter your age or gender I'm certain you can find something that will spark your creativity. I was buying bracelets online for $30 to $50 dollars and my wife had the idea to go here and find supplies to make them herself for a fraction of the price. And I think they are turning out great!!!
I like almost everything about it. The online pickup is not one of those things. It's quite a mess.
My items were not in the bin. I got in the long line to ask at the counter. I was told "they're to the left of the door." So I started looking through the piles of online orders for my name. Then the same associate scolds me for being there and said she meant to the left when you come in the entrance. Yeah, that was the first place I checked, that was the whole reason for asking. I don't appreciate being scolded because someone can't be bothered to do their job correctly. I just went to another associate who kindly went to find the slip for my order and told me my items WERE IN THE BACK, meaning it wasn't even where she insisted it was or even a place accessible to customers, but felt it was appropriate to raise her voice at me with a condescending tone. Chill out; it's a crafts store.
While the selection of supplies is satisfactory, the lack of cashier staff is not. In particular, I did not and will never appreciate being, in essence, shunted into doing the cashier's job for them. There are the "options" of paying cash at a manned register, of which there are two and only one of which is actually manned at any given time; and using self-checkout if you are using a card. I use "options" in quotes because one of the cashiers is generally found, instead of manning a register, directing people to the self-checkout, seemingly so as not to perform the job for which they were hired. There should be more staff at the registers, and there shouldn't be this sort of compulsion by the staff who are there to use a system that people find uncomfortable. Staff should be personable, not cold and hellbent on having customers do the cashier's job.
I found what I was looking for and was happy with the price (embroidery thread, frames, matting). However, my largest complaint about this store is the complete lack of staffing. Upon checkout, customers were forced to choose whether they were checked out by staff or sent to self-checkout based on whether they were paying with cash or credit. If you wanted to pay with a card, you were required to use self-checkout. You could only be checked out by staff if you were paying with cash. The person assigned to the registers was working very hard to help accommodate everyone, but the simple reality was that there were too many customers and not enough staff to assist. I'm sorry, but I do not work for Michael's and I should not be forced to do the job of their staff at checkout AND still pay the same prices for goods. If you want me to use self-checkout, I should be given a discount for work done. PERIOD. Bring back employees. Stop short-staffing your stores.
It was a lovely experience! The cashier with the straight short-ish black hair (who's name I do not remember unfortunately) was very kind and helpful, even when some stuff was malfunctioning briefly, and I feel they are doing a wonderful job! There's a wide variety of stuff there, and I definitely could find things not only for artistic endeavors but for important home necessities as well, which was nice. My partner was also able to ask an associate about the variety of markers they have who was also very helpful, informative, and polite!
I wanted Michaels today to get pictures frame in the custom framing department. There was a very nice Hispanic guy that I noticed immediately. How polite, cordial and kind he is to his customer, he was waiting on. He went to the back to get help because he was by himself. The associate /employee that came out was LISA. She had a very not happy look on her face. I said hello and I asked her for help. I'm not sure but she seemed to roll her eyes and seem bothered by my request for service. After asking her to frame my pictures four different times, she kept saying she can't stretch it. I didn't come there for it to be stretched. I asked for help to frame pictures of mine but she was persistent on not helping me and not accommodating my request. I've never experienced anyone so rude and disrespectful to customer. It was my first experience in Michaels .
Be aware of LISA in custom framing department. Not a nice person.
I go here because they typically have what I need. When I am there though the staff don't really talk to you v unless you engage them. Overall it's ok but it would be nice for customer service to be a little better
